And it runs and runs and runs…

In the style of an old German Car-Spot, one often needs to make sure that a process get’s restarted as soon as it quits due to some errors.

[Update1] Gitosis under Debian Wheezy

The last week, I managed to switch over to gitolite. It works like charm without any evil hack, does what it should do, but I don’t think the transfer is as easy as stated. The easiest way was to

  1. move all git-repos /somewhere/
  2. completely uninstall gitosis
  3. install and configure gitolite as stated on their homepage using glsetup
  4. move the repos back into gitolite’s “$GIT”-directory

Some months ago, a friend of mine showed me gitosis, a collection of scripts that provide an easy-to-configure git-server. By that time, there was an almost ready-to-use-.deb in debian/squeeze. But with migration to Wheezy, gitosis broke.

“alias” and bash autocomplete

It’s a common problem: All the “good” names for complex programms are already in use, so you end up with some long programm name like “systemctl”, which furthermore has lots of options that you really need, but usually you may either define an alias like “sctl” (then you would need to remember and type out all options) OR use bash’s autocomplete-feature (but type the full programm-name everytime).

Python Fill-Name

I don’t know how you handle it, but if I have a directory of numbered files, I would like them all to have equal length, for that “ls” and autocomplete will show them in appropriate order, but yet I don’t want all the files to consist of let’s say a dozen chars, when five ones would be enough.

Zeitungssterben: Meine (sprichwörtlichen) 5 Cent | G! gutjahrs Blog

Meine absolute Leseempfehlung!

Bekloppte Werbung

Bandcamp & Piracy

Hey Folks,

today, I had a short look at some bandcamp.com subpage (in fact: The Terror Pigeon Dance Revolt, as they will play on Waldstock this year), of course only due to some basic technical thoughts, when I found this in the section of the player’s JavaScript:
